Newton Industries has been featured in Plastics News, one of the most respected and widely-read publications in the plastics and injection molding industry. We're thrilled to share this recognition with our customers, partners, and team.

Plastic News featuring a deep dive conversation with Newton CEO Joyce Tang

The Story: Innovation, Investment, and North American Growth

The Plastics News feature, published in August 2026, highlighted Newton Industries' ambitious expansion strategy across automation, product development, and North American market growth.

Key Highlights from the Feature:

Strategic Investment & Government Recognition

Newton Industries was awarded federal funding to support modernization and growth. But more importantly, the article notes that this federal support came because Newton had already been investing significantly in its own modernization—the government funding accelerated plans that were already in motion.

Workforce Expansion & Automation

In the past year alone, Newton grew its team from 26 to 35 employees. At a time when many manufacturers struggle with labor challenges, we're expanding—and doing it intelligently through a combination of automation and strategic hiring. CEO Joyce Tang emphasized that automation isn't about replacing people; it's about increasing capacity, improving consistency, and allowing our team to focus on higher-value work.

Strategic Acquisition: Buying a Customer

Newton acquired Canadian Astro Supplies in November 2025—a business we had been manufacturing for since 2015. This strategic move gave us:

  • An established product line with proven market demand

  • Direct access to customers and distribution networks

  • Vertical integration that strengthens our supply chain

  • Preserved manufacturing jobs in British Columbia

As Joyce Tang noted in the article: "Acquisitions like this are another way North American manufacturers can grow. There are many good small manufacturing businesses where the owners are approaching retirement, and I think there is a real opportunity to preserve those businesses, products, manufacturing capabilities, and jobs within North America."

Diversification Across Markets

Newton serves multiple industries—construction, transportation, recreational, aquaculture, industrial, and more. We're also expanding beyond Canada into the U.S., Mexico, and other export markets. This diversification is intentional: it protects us from market volatility and allows us to serve a broad range of customer needs.

Sustainability That Makes Business Sense

Our zero-waste manufacturing approach and investment in recycled materials isn't marketing—it's operational philosophy. Our Vanguard ECO shopping baskets, for example, use recycled plastics including ocean waste recovery and post-consumer materials. As Joyce said: "Sustainability must make sense from both an environmental and manufacturing perspective."

What This Recognition Means

This Plastics News feature validates what our team, customers, and partners have known: Newton Industries is positioned for significant growth in the North American plastics manufacturing landscape.

The timing is important. As manufacturers navigate tariffs, supply chain uncertainty, labor challenges, and changing customer expectations, the companies that thrive are those that:

✓ Invest proactively (not reactively)

✓ Build diverse revenue streams

✓ Prioritize their people

✓ Expand strategically across North America

✓ Integrate sustainability into operations
